Bahnhof is a data center provider located in Sweden, with several facilities throughout the region. Originally an ISP, Bahnhof offers broadband, HDTV and VoIP services. Now, in addition, Bahnhof offers data center solutions, colocation, server rental and managed hosting.

World Famous Data Center

What Bahnhof is most famous for is their Pionen data center facility. Built in an old world-war two bunker some 30 meters below bedrock, this facility was made to withstand an indirect hit by a nuclear weapon. The theme of the facility was inspired by James Bond and Cool Runnings movies, giving a futuristic feel, complete with a glass conference room suspended above the server room.

Futuristic Modular Data Center Design

Continuing their focus on futuristic designs for the bland data center world, Bahnhof has created a modular data center (note the storm trooper in a few of the pictures on the website). Here are three pictures, two being design mockups and the third being a picture of a modular data center under construction.

Bahnhof has benefited from Sweden’s stance against DMCA’s policies, but how many customers will that drive away if Sweden enacts a similar law?
